To help you fit into the local community, create friendships, and learn about life in Isla, each community member is requested to volunteer for a minimum of 8 hours each month as follows:

Runaway Community

4 hours monthly for the benefit of fellow residents in the community in some fashion. Types of activities can include: teach a class (aerobics, Zumba, Spanish, remote work, computer classes, salsa lessons), host an event (be the coordinator of one of the group social events or activities), man the reception desk, set up morning coffee service, meet and greet new arrivals and show them around the property, coordinate a sporting event or beach day, etc.  Be a good neighbor and help build the community for the better.

Local Community

4 hours monthly for the benefit of Isla residents. This can be through volunteering for one of the many local non-profits: Isla Animals, Isla Vet Cat Rescue, Diabetes Clinic, Turtle Rescue, Lean on Me International community support, Keys For Life work at La Guadalupana, Isla Scholarship Program, Little Yellow School House for special needs children, tutoring local children, teaching English to locals, arts programs, volunteering at the new Tourism University of the Caribbean, etc. You can also adopt a local Mexican-owned business and support them through social media promotion, etc. Have an idea of an organization, event or cause you’d like to spearhead or support? Let us know – and we will see if we can help arrange other volunteers to join in the program to ensure its success – and to make it fun for everyone.
